A Pride Month Self-Care Toolkit

Pride Month is often portrayed as a time of celebration—rainbows, parades, visibility, and joy. And for many LGBTQ+ teens and young adults, it truly is a time to feel seen and honored.

At the same time, pride can also bring up a mix of complex emotions: grief for what’s been lost, frustration with ongoing injustice, loneliness in unsupportive environments, or pressure to feel or act a certain way. Pride is emotional work. And you don’t have to navigate it alone or have it all figured out to deserve peace, care, or celebration.

To support yourself this month— whether you’re feeling joyful, disconnected, or somewhere in between, here are a few self-care practices that can help:

  • Take breaks from social media if comparison or noise starts to feel overwhelming

  • Spend time with people who make you feel safe and seen

  • Celebrate in whatever ways feel best for you

  • Set boundaries with conversations or events that feel draining or unsafe

  • Use grounding tools like deep breaths, movement, or sensory check-ins when emotions feel heavy

  • Remember that you don’t owe anyone your story: share your identity on your terms

However you choose to show up this Pride Month—boldly, quietly, joyfully, or tenderly— know that you are worthy of care, celebration, and belonging exactly as you are.
