Our Therapist Team

Hannah Sherman, LCSW (she/her)
Psychotherapist & Founder

I specialize in trauma recovery, identity issues, mood and emotional regulation, anxiety, and depression. I work to empower individuals and families to identify and utilize their inherent strengths to navigate obstacles and interpersonal challenges. As a queer identified therapist, I’m committed to approaching my work with curiosity, affirmation, compassion and authenticity.

I work through a collaborative and creative process that integrates various therapeutic modalities, including elements of psychodynamic, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and somatic-based approaches. By using a compassionate, client-centered approach, I support others in developing an authentic and welcoming sense of self. My therapeutic approach employs a culturally-informed lens and is rooted in a social justice framework.

I’m available to meet with client’s virtually for online video sessions, or at my office in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.

Soraya Palmer, LMSW (she/her)
Psychotherapist

I hold a strong commitment to using holistic approaches to healing. Through my extensive clinical work with trauma survivors and background working with young people, I know that talk therapy is not always the most effective method for processing and healing from trauma. I employ therapeutic techniques from Trauma-based Cognitive Processing Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and somatic modalities to support my clients. As a published author, I often incorporate creative modalities into my therapeutic practice such as creative writing activities, drawing, and clay. In our journey together, I will work with you to figure out which methods will work best for you. I strive for the therapeutic space to be collaborative and honest. I hope to empower you to use our space in a way that makes you feel safest.

I am a Black queer therapist who specializes in working with BIPOC and QT clients, creative artists, community organizers, and activists. I believe in addressing systemic oppressions such as poverty, transphobia, and racism. I have experience treating depression, anxiety, complex trauma and PTSD and supporting survivors of violence, abuse, and poverty. The goals of my practice are to help you process painful experiences in order to begin the healing process, strengthen your own curiosity and self-compassion, improve insight, self-awareness, self-confidence, and self-love, identify and strengthen tools for coping, and find moments for joy and pleasure.

I’m available to meet with clients virtually for online video sessions.

  • Racial identity challenges, including supporting individuals around the impact of racism and xenophobia

Maya Street-Sachs, LMSW (she/her)
Psychotherapist

I am a psychodynamic therapist with more than 5 years experience working with young people and their families, including pre-teens, teenagers, and young adults. I provide a warm, open, flexible, and non-judgmental space for young people to work through and grapple with their identity issues, relationships, anxiety, depression, and trauma recovery.

My therapeutic approach is individualized and adaptable - allowing my clients to find a voice as well as a sense of empowerment and self-discovery through their experience with therapy. I strive to practice therapy through a structurally competent lens, keeping in mind how racist and rigid structures and systems in this modern life affect the mental health and wellbeing of the individual.
